He strives to make it impossible
And as we try to see colours,

A vicious circle that consumes life
As time runs fast, existence spills from our hands
Relentless process that never ends
Driving us to lose control of our lives
Feel the doom, embrace the antagonism
Fake freedom is our opium and death
Failure by failure, we feel them as steps
The old opponent knows and profits from them
The healer who provides the cure
Smiles in the darkness while the disease is born
We bear everyday, the weight of the engine
A crippled system that swallows life
Paying with blood, the price of existence
And the right to live our own agony
An infant painfully learning the rules
Hope slowly fades within a young naive soul
The puppet tracing plans for his route
Becomes the old man dying alone and poor
And as we try to open our eyes
Omniscient opponent kills the light

A truly stellar death/doom album with heavy doses of black metal. Tracks like Isolation, Child of Light, and Broken Hymns deliver the sorrowful and icy tone of this album, elevated by the stirring cello compositions of Raphael Weinroth-Browne. The album delivers a deeply satisfying crescendo in Becoming Intangible before stirring the soul once again with Epilogue.

La vie est une scène sur laquelle nous avançons masqués et c'est encore plus le cas pour Ekove Efrits. Nowhere, son quatrième album, se construit à partir d'un double jeu. Il est doux-amer et l'artiste iranien troque son black metal dépressif hybride contre un post-rock mélancolique qui nous engage beaucoup plus sur le plan émotionnel. Count De Efrit fait entrer une nouvelle actrice en la personne de Megan Robins qui elle aussi cache son identité avec un chant folklorique. Triste, brillant !
